ECHOSPORT chats to Bristol Rovers fan Tom Vinall ahead of tomorrow’s game at Roots Hall.

What have you made of Bristol Rovers’ start to the season?

“It’s been very mixed. It started with a frustrating 3-1 defeat at Scunthorpe United, despite having been a goal up for a large part of the game.

“Days later we managed to beat Cardiff 1-0 thanks to a Chris Lines screamer in extra-time to set up a tie with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Tuesday, before beating Oxford United 2-1 on Sunday.

“But our unbeaten home record which had lasted since November 2015 was ended on Wednesday night as Bolton beat us 2-1 at the Mem.

“It’s been a mixed start but there are definitely positives to take from it.

What are the club’s hopes for this season?

“If we make two or three more signings, I’d like to think we can finish mid-table. It seems ambitious I know, but we have a very ambitious manager and a very tight-knit and talented squad.

“Provided we make a couple more signings I see no reason why we can’t push on.”

Who should Blues keep an eye on this weekend?

“Matty Taylor is definitely someone to keep an eye out.

“He scored his 50th goal for us at Scunthorpe on the opening day in just over two seasons.

“He scored 28 goals last season and was subject to a lot of interest from Championship clubs and hometown club and League One rivals Oxford.

“Another player to look out for if he plays is Billy Bodin.

“He scored 13 goals in 26 starts from right-midfield last season and is a very skilful and talented winger.

What’s the team news?

“Rovers look likely to be without injured pair Lee Mansell and Liam Lawrence but are hopeful that winger Byron Moore will be fit to play his first competitive game for the club.”

Predicted line-up

Mildenhall, Leadbitter, Lockyer, Hartley, Brown, Bodin, Lines, Sinclair, Montano, Taylor, Harrison.
