SOUTHEND United striker Simon Cox is gutted he cannot continue his partnership with Nile Ranger.

The forwards helped Blues bag three goals in the first 15 minutes of Tuesday’s night victory at Sheffield United.

But Ranger hobbled off after 25 minutes against the Blades and will now be out of action for up to six weeks, much to the disappointment of Cox.

“What we saw from Nile in 25 minutes was something I haven’t seen in a long time in this league and higher,” said Cox.

“He was an animal in the air and was very dominant.

“I think he wanted to prove a point. He’s been made a scapegoat due to his antics off the field but he has this opportunity to get back on track.

“He was unstoppable for 25 minutes and hopefully he can be back out there soon.”

Cox is likely to partner Jason Williams or David Mooney in attack against Bristol Rovers this weekend.
