THIS afternoon's clash at Roots Hall will be a repeat of Phil Brown’s first home game in charge of Southend United.

Brown was named as Blues boss in March 2013, replacing Paul Sturrock, and took the team to Bradford City for his first match.

But, three days after the 2-2 draw at Valley Parade, Brown managed the Shrimpers against Fleetwood Town at Roots Hall in a game which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Fleetwood took the lead after only two minutes when Junior Brown’s inswinging corner was headed in by Alan Goodall whose effort beat goalkeeper Paul Smith at his near post.

However, Southend fought back to secure a share of the spoils just five minutes from time when Britt Assombalonga’s chipped cross from the left hand side of the penalty area was headed home at the far post by Barry Corr.

Brown was assisted on the day by Graham Coughlan who still remains in that role.

But the playing squad is now remarkably different.

Of the 18 players selected in the matchday squad by Brown only Ryan Leonard - who was an unused substitute - is still lining up for the Shrimpers.

Sixteen of the players have since moved on while goalkeeper Paul Smith now works as a coach in the club’s academy.

Southend: P Smith, Clohessy, Cresswell, Phillips, Straker, Hurst, Mkandawire, Mohsni (Corr 69), Tomlin, Assombalonga, Eastwood (Laird 58)

Subs not used: Njie, Spillane, Leonard, Lund & Bentley
