SOUTHEND United midfielder Michael Timlin is facing at least another two weeks on the sidelines after suffering a setback with his hamstring injury.

Timlin has yet to feature this term after picking up the problem in a pre-season friendly with West Ham United in July.

But Blues boss Phil Brown has revealed Timlin’s scheduled comeback has now been put back even further.

“We sent Michael for a scan when he was complaining of some tightness in a different area on the same leg and it showed he had tweaked the muscle,” said Brown.

“He’s going to be out for another 10 days to two weeks with it which is disappointing because we thought he was getting close to coming back again.”

Timlin struggled with a knee injury towards the end of last season and has started just five games since Christmas for the Shrimpers.

Fellow midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has also yet to feature this term.
