SOUTHEND United have decided not to appeal against the two match touchline ban given to manager Phil Brown.

The Shrimpers had originally been expected to contest the results of the FA hearing which followed Brown’s dismissal from the dug-out at Bolton Wanderers.

But Blues chairman Ron Martin has revealed the club will now not be contesting the decision.

“Upon reviewing the evidence and without the existence of the footage showing the incident – which would have helped Phil’s case – the club decided not to appeal,” said Martin.

“For this reason Phil has accepted the two match ban.”

The first of Brown’s two games in the stands came in the EFL Trophy against Leyton Orient on Tuesday night and he will also be absent from the dug-out at Rochdale on Saturday.
