PHIL Brown felt Southend United did not have it all their own way in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Bradford City.

The victory made it eight home games without defeat for the Shrimpers.

But Brown insisted his side were made to work hard for their latest victory at Roots Hall.

“It certainly wasn’t all one way traffic,” said the 57-year-old.

“Bradford are a good side and they certainly had their moments so it wasn’t plain sailing at all.

“The defence played their part and Mark Oxley definitely did too to get us a great clean sheet and 3-0 is a fantastic result.

“It keeps the momentum going and the goal deficit which was minus 11 is now only minus one which is good to see.”

But Brown is now keen to build on the victory against Swindon Town in another home game tomorrow night.

“It’s a big period for us with three games in eight days and this is a great way to start but we need to carry it on,” said the Blues boss, whose side now sit ninth in League One.

“Swindon is another important game now and we go into it bouncing after getting back to back wins for the first time since February.

“I think we’re now over the transition stage we had at the start of the season and we’re also seeing the importance of having our big players fully fit but we won’t get carried away.”
