NILE Ranger is facing suspension from Southend United following another breach of discipline.

Ranger appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday morning and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud.

But a subsequent misdemeanour has now cast doubts on Ranger’s future at Roots Hall.

And it remains to be seen whether the striker’s contract with the club will be terminated.

Chairman Ron Martin said: “This appears to be the first misdemeanour since Nile came to the football club.

“Other events were prior to him joining.

“But we will not tolerate anything that may bring the club into disrepute.

“However I caveat that pending a detailed review of the information which has been brought to our attention.

“I have supported Nile, along with Phil Brown and the other players since he arrived at the football club in the summer.

“We all want to see him succeed on and off the pitch as a player and person.”

Ranger joined the Shrimpers in the summer and recently signed an improved three and a half year deal after making an impressive start to the season.

The 25-year-old has scored three goals in 15 games
