SOUTHEND United’s under 18 side made it 10 games unbeaten with a hard fought 3-1 win at Luton Town.

Goals from Emile Acquah, Zak Pianim and Sewa Marah saw the second-placed Shrimpers fight back from 1-0 down to secure all three points.

And youth team coach Dave Huzzey was full of praise for his side’s performance.

“I was really pleased with how the boys fought back from being 1-0 down,” said Huzzey.

“Luton beat us earlier on in the season and they always give us a real run for our money to get the result like we did was excellent.

“We deserved the three points and there’s definitely been a real change in the mentality and mindset of the group.

“Earlier on in the season we would win 6-1 one week and then lose 5-0 the next.

“There just wasn’t any kind of consistency but we’ve managed to change that now.

“Even in training the boys are performing at a constant good level and it’s been good to see but we have to keep it going.”

Blues’ fine run has seen them move five points clear of third placed Cambridge ahead of Saturday’s home game with Stevenage.
