NORTHAMPTON TOWN v LEYTON ORIENT (A) APRIL 2007

I think everyone remembers their first goal and I’m no different.

Mine came while I was on loan at Northampton Town and we won 2-0 at Leyton Orient.

It gave me the belief that I could score goals in senior football and I thought if I scored one then I would be able to get more.

SWINDON TOWN v WALSALL (H) JANUARY 2009

I was lucky enough to score a few goals while I was at Swindon but the one that really stands out for me from my time there is the one I scored against Walsall.

I had been going through a rough time and hadn’t scored for seven or eight games.

I wasn’t playing as well as I would like and this goal got me back on track and got me going again.

I ended that season with 32 goals in the end but it was this one I considered to be the most important.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (A) APRIL 2011

I have to include this goal because it’s the only one I ever got in the Premier League.

As it turned out it was actually quite a decent goal but it would have been in the list even it it was a tap in from a yard out because it came at the top level and really did mean a lot to me.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST v BIRMINGHAM CITY (H) SEPTEMBER 2012

I think this was the best goal I’ve scored and it’s still my favourite now.

The ball was played into me and I controlled it on the volley before scoring with another volley past the goalkeeper.

It was voted goal of the year which was nice and I would still say it was best one I’ve scored so far.

SOUTHEND UNITED v AFC WIMBLEDON (H) DECEMBER 2016 & SOUTHEND UNITED v ROCHDALE (H) JANUARY 2017

I know I was only supposed to choose five but I couldn’t choose between these two as my favourite for Southend so I’ve had to include them both and make the list six instead.

I really enjoyed the chip I scored against Wimbledon because it was a finish that came to me naturally.

The one against Rochdale came after a really good move.

It was in stoppage time too so it won us the game and it was my 100th goal so it’s always going to be a memorable one.
