SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is still waiting to discover the outcome of Nile Ranger’s FA hearing.

Ranger attended the hearing last week following a serious breach of club discipline.

But Brown does not yet know how the ongoing situation will be resolved.

“There are situations going on that may go for or against us,” said Brown.

“If they go for us then I’ll be delighted with our strike-force but we still got what we wanted.

“We don’t know the time constraints but once we get the answer we will respond and react and we’ve been very proactive with everything that’s going on.”

Ranger will not be available for Saturday’s clash with Scunthorpe but centre-back Anton Ferdinand could be in contention after recovering from the hamstring problem which forced him to miss last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town.

“Anton trained Wednesday and Thursday and is expected to train again today,” said Brown.

“If he comes through unscathed then he’ll be available for the game and then I’ll have a big dilemma because of how well John White played.”
