SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is delighted with how Theo Robinson has settled in with the Shrimpers.

The striker scored his first goal since coming back to Blues in Tuesday night’s 2-0 win at Oxford United.

And Brown has noticed a massive difference in the forward who was on trial at Roots Hall in the summer.

“When Theo came to us on trial he was quite flat and low on confidence and I think you have to give him massive credit for what he’s done,” said the Shrimpers boss.

“He went into non league football with Lincoln and blew up a massive bubble in terms of belief and confidence while he was there.

“He showed he had the ability to score goals again but I didn’t want to deflate that bubble.

“Being on the bench since coming back here could have made him flat and go back to the player he was in the summer but that certainly hasn’t been the case.

“He’s been lively coming off the bench and at Oxford on Tuesday the way he played the game rubbed off on everybody else.

“It was great to see him score and he took the goal really well too.”

Robinson will now be pushing for a start against Northampton Town this weekend.

But he could find Marc-Antoine Fortune and Simon Cox difficult to dislodge from the side.
