SIMON Cox became just the second Southend United star in 57 years to score in six successive home games, but was still left feeling frustrated after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Northampton Town.
Cox put the Shrimpers 2-1 in front at Roots Hall.
And, despite Phil Brown’s side moving back into the play-off positions, the 29-year-old was frustrated not to have secured all three points.
“It’s pleasing to score, especially as I knew all about the 57 year statistic but we’re disappointed not to have won,” said Cox, who has now netted 11 goals this season.
“When we go 2-1 in front like that we expect to see the game out so we’re frustrated we haven’t been able to do it.
“We always knew this was going to be a tough game because Northampton have won their last two and are turning things around.
“But we’re still in a good position and we’re definitely up for the fight.”
