ECHOSPORT chats to Peterborough United fan Craig Lyons ahead of tonight’s key League One clash with Southend United at London Road.

Peterborough are heading into tonight’s game sitting ninth in the table.

What have you made of the season so far?

“We’ve been very inconsistent and cannot string two wins together.

“But we still find ourselves three points from the play-offs so there’s still plenty to play for.”

With that in mind, what are the hopes for the rest of the season?

“That we can start scoring goals and entertaining again.

“The play-offs are the best we can hope for and hopefully we can get in them.”

Peterborough’s away form has been better than the home form.

Why do you feel that is?

“Our home form has been erratic, the crowds haven’t been the best and we’ve had shocking officials too at home.

“But we should be doing better.

“We need to attack more and lose our negativity at home.”

Who are the main threats Southend need to keep an eye out for tonight?

“Our main threats have been Marcus Maddison and Gwion Edwards going forward but both have been inconsistent.

“Paul Taylor on his day is unplayable in this league.”

What’s the team news ahead of this evening’s game?

“Our two central midfielders are banned.

“Chris Forrester was sent off at Walsall at the weekend and Anthony Grant picked up his tenth booking of the season so he’s going to miss the next couple of games.”

“Michael Bostwick, another midfielder, has a broken jaw and Gwion Edwards was stretchered off on Saturday.

“All that means we are depleted in midfield.

“But that could actually be a blessing because they have all underperformed for weeks.”

What’s the predicted starting line-up for tonight?

“Trying to predict our line-up is an impossible task even with a full squad but I’ll go for: McGee, Hughes, Ball, Tafozoli, Smith, Inman, Taylor, Lopes, Maddison, Morias, Angol.
