JASON Demetriou insists Southend United have set their sights on catching the top two teams in League One.
Tuesday night’s 4-1 win at Peterborough United moved the Shrimpers up to fifth in the table, seven points behind second placed Scunthorpe United.
And Demetriou is keen to help Blues close that gap in the remaining 13 games of the season.
“We’re looking up the table now and we’re looking to the close the gap between us and second,” said the 29-year-old right-back.
“I’m not sure if we should be saying it or not but we’re playing really well at the moment and everyone is full of confidence so why not.
“It’s obviously going to be hard but all we can do is focus on Saturday’s game at Gillingham and see where it takes us.
“The way we’re playing at the moment we can’t wait for the games and we’re really looking forward to the one at the weekend.”
