SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown insists Luke Amos will make his debut for the Shrimpers next week.

The on-loan Tottenham Hotspur midfielder caught the eye for Blues’ under 21 team in a 2-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon yesterday.

And Brown is now close to calling up the 20-year-old.

“Luke is a lot closer to playing in the first team than he realises and if he doesn’t play against Bristol Rovers on Saturday there is every chance he will at Coventry,” said Brown.

“His attitude is exemplary, it’s absolutely bang on and the fact he wanted to play for our under 21s at a non league ground instead of Spurs’ under 23s says a lot about him.

“I thought he did well and showed why I’m sure his chance will come soon.”
