SOUTHEND United’s John White is pushing for a recall at Coventry City tonight.

The defender has started just one of the Shrimpers’ last 20 matches.

But the 30-year-old is among those being considered by Blues boss Phil Brown for the clash at the Ricoh Arena.

And White is desperate to end his frustrating spell on the sidelines.

“It feels like a lifetime since I played two or three games in a row so it would definitely be nice if that happened,” said White.

“Throughout the season it’s been tough to sit it out.

“It’s been difficult to get in the team but you just have to keep yourself in the best shape possible and be ready for when you next get a chance which is what I have been doing.”

White was unfortunate to not keep his place in the starting line-up after impressing in a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town in late January.

The defender also impressed as a second half substitute at Gillingham last month and now hopes to be able to play a part in Blues getting back to winning ways.

“Tonight’s game is all about getting the three points and doing whatever it takes to get them,” said White.

“A good performance would obviously be nice but it doesn’t really matter too much at this stage.

“The be all and end all is getting the three points and putting things right.”
