BEN Coker and Ted Smith could miss the rest of the season for Southend United, manager Phil Brown has revealed.

Centre-back Ryan Inniss will definitely miss the remainder of the campaign after dislocating his shoulder against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night while goalkeeper Mark Oxley is also unlikely to figure until next season.

But the Shrimpers chief now fears Coker could be facing a month on the sidelines and he has also opened talks with Brighton & Hove Albion to extend Christian Walton’s loan spell.

“I think Ben is going to be out for three to four weeks and both him and Ted are touch and go to play again this season now,” said Brown.

“Ben had a coming together in training and it opened up his knee which led to him tweaking his medial ligaments.

“He will be having a scan this afternoon and we will know more then but I am not sure he will play again this season and it is the same situation with Ted.

“He’s got a partial rupture of his wrist so I’ve spoken to Brighton about extending Christian’s loan.

“He’s been excellent in the two games he’s played but Brighton could need him back if they suffer any injuries themselves.”

The Shrimpers’ other senior goalkeeper, Mark Oxley, is still out with an elbow injury and is also expected to miss the rest of the season.

“I wouldn’t expect Mark to play again until next season,” said Brown.

“But he’s a strong character and I’m sure he will be looking to prove me wrong.”

Blues will also be missing the suspended Ryan Leonard for their next two matches but Anton Ferdinand, who missed the game against Bolton with a calf problem, could return this weekend.

“I’m hoping Anton will be back in training today and will be fine to play Saturday,” added Brown.
