SOUTHEND United are keen on signing former Norwich City defender Michael Turner, Echosport understands.
The 33-year-old centre-back was released by the Canaries at the end of last season.
And Blues boss Phil Brown - who worked with Turner while at Hull City - is now believed to be interested in bringing the experienced defender to Roots Hall.
Turner, who has made more than 400 career appearances, also played alongside Shrimpers skipper Anton Ferdinand while at Sunderland and could now be set to rekindle the partnership.
Blues are keen to sign another centre-back following Adam Thompson’s departure to Bury and they remain in talks with a defender currently on the books of a Scottish Premiership club.
Southend are also still in pursuit of left-back Stephen Hendrie who made five appearances while on loan with Blues in 2016.
