THE son of Southend United legend Andy Ansah is on trial with the Shrimpers.
Striker Zak Ansah, 23, has travelled to Spain with Blues for pre-season training.
And Southend boss Phil Brown is looking forward to seeing him in action.
“Zak’s father’s rang me and asked if there was a possibility of Zak coming away with us,” said Brown.
“I checked his history and he had something like 11 years at Arsenal so he has good grounding.
“He hasn’t had much of an opportunity since leaving Arsenal so we’ll be having a look at him in Spain and then play him in the games we have against Partick Thistle and Ipswich.
“We will make a decision on him after that.”
Ansah represented England at under 16 and 17 age-groups and has also lined up for Plymouth, Newport and Woking.
His dad Andy made 181 appearances for the Shrimpers during the 1990s.
