WE started the season with two games in quick succession, one which went well and one which didn’t.

The Blackburn match was a big positive and to win 2-1 in our first League One game of the season was hugely positive.

I thought it was a great game and, apart from the start of the second half when we were a little bit sluggish, I felt we were quite comfortable.

Ryan Leonard put us in front and I’ve had a few people asking me about the goal celebration which followed but it was all to do with Jason Demetriou.

We think he looks like a penguin when he puts the tracksuit on so that’s why we walked like penguins when the ball hit the back of the net!

It was a good day all round and before the game it was good to be able to show our support for Ben Coker by wearing t-shirts with his name on.

Four of us went to see him in hospital after the operation on his broken leg and we just thought this was another nice way to show him that we will be with him every step of the way during his rehab.

But unfortunately, after the Blackburn game, we had a disappointing and frustrating night against Newport.

We had been made aware of the club’s poor record in the League Cup and we were determined to put it right.

For the club to have suffered seven first round defeats in a row is totally unacceptable and Tuesday was one of those nights when it didn’t go our way.

However, our thoughts have now firmly switched to the game at Rotherham tomorrow.

They have a lovely pitch and a nice stadium so we are looking forward to it.

But we have to have a repeat of the performance against Blackburn and definitely not the one against Newport.
