SOUTHEND United's under 18 side secured their second 1-0 win in the space of four days - but coach Dave Huzzey was still far from satisfied.

Eren Kinali's first half header saw the Shrimpers edge past Luton Town at their Boots & Laces base this afternoon.

But Huzzey was not impressed by the performance.

"I was quite disappointed if I'm honest about it," said Huzzey.

"On Saturday I thought we were exceptional when beating Stevenage but we had to grind it out here.

"We defended well and getting another clean sheet is obviously a pleasing aspect after conceding six goals in the first two games.

"But I thought our attacking players needed to be braver on the ball."

Southend bagged the only goal of the game in the 15th minute when Kinali rose well to head home a Jon Benton corner.

However, the Hatters came close to equalising in the second half with Taylor Curran doing well to clear an effort off the goal-line before Shrimpers shot-stopper Nathan Bishop tipped Jack James' free-kick onto the crossbar.

Blues' youngsters are without a fixture this weekend.

Southend United: Bishop, Humphreys, Osimeh, Cuthbert, Curran, Pianim, Kinali, Benton (Stewart 66), Marah (Acquah 58), Rush, Egbri.
