SOUTHEND United winger Michael Kightly will today discover the seriousness of the hamstring injury he suffered at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Kightly pulled up towards the end of the 2-1 defeat at the Valley.

And Blues boss Phil Brown is nervously awaiting the winger's scan results.

"Michael is going to see a specialist today and a scan result will tell us the extent of the injury so we’re keeping our fingers crossed," said Brown.

"He's tweaked his hamstring and it happened early on in the second half.

"He managed to carry on but it didn’t fully go until about the 90th minute.

"I’m just hoping it was more fatigue and cramp than a pull."

Kightly has scored twice in six games since returning to the Shrimpers in  the summer but will not be available for tomorrow's trip to Shrewsbury Town.
