JASON Demetriou is aiming to build on an already memorable week when Southend United visit Wigan Athletic tomorrow.
Demetriou captained Cyprus in World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Belgium and in doing so became Blues’ most capped international ever.
But the right-back is still striving for more success.
“I’ll be looking to hit the ground running against Wigan because obviously things didn’t work out for us on Saturday against Doncaster,” said Demetriou.
“We’ll be looking to respond well to the defeat, like we showed on a number of occasions last season.
“I was buzzing to captain Cyprus for the first time and getting the record was nice as well but now I’m fully focused on helping the boys get a good result at Wigan.”
