FIT-AGAIN Southend United defender Michael Turner is expected to be named in the squad at Yeovil Town tomorrow.

The experienced centre-back has yet to feature this season after suffering a hamstring injury in July.

But Turner played 45 minutes in a behind closed doors game with Gillingham on Tuesday.

And Blues boss Phil Brown hopes the defender will now able to play some part against the Glovers.

“It was great to see Michael back out there on Tuesday and if we can get him out there tomorrow at some point then that would be great,” said Brown.

“It’s nice to see Michael back out there and for him to have a smile on his face again after his spell out with the hamstring injury.

“It’s been tough for him coming in and getting injured in pre-season.

“But he’s back now and if he doesn’t play tomorrow then he will definitely play a large chunk of the Colchester game in the Checkatrade Trophy at Roots Hall on Tuesday.”

Blues have winger Jermaine McGlashan available again after he completed a three match suspension following his red card at Wigan Athletic but Ben Coker (broken leg), Rob Kiernan (knee) and Harry Kyprianou (thigh) are still absent.

Left-back Stephen Hendrie and goalkeeper Ted Smith are both pushing to be back on the bench for what will be Blues’ first trip to Yeovil since 2009.
