SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is determined to secure the county’s bragging rights tonight.
The Shrimpers host Colchester United in their final Checkatrade Trophy group game this evening.
And Brown is desperate to claim victory.
“The most important factor tonight is that bragging rights are at stake and you always want to beat your local rivals,” said the 58-year-old whose side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Yeovil Town on Saturday.
“After the defeat at Yeovil we will be going as strong as we can for this game because we need to win it to make sure we get through to the knock-out stages of the competition.
“We know we’re scalp for Colchester but cup runs are important for the finances.”
