WE had a little bit of a rest last weekend with us not having a game but it’s been a hard week of training since then.

Tuesday saw us doing a double session and the standard has been high too because the losers of the small-sided matches have had to do extra running and nobody fancied that!

Another highlight this week has been the discovery of Michael Timlin’s baking skills.

We’re used to lads bringing in treats and cakes when it’s their birthday but it was a nice surprise for Tims to bring in a batch of cakes he had made and it was perhaps even more of a surprise that they were really nice!

I think he might have to do it more regularly if we get a good result this weekend but he’s not the first of the lads to have done it.

Anton (Ferdinand) has brought in banana cake a few times but there’s no way he’s made it and I think he’s just trying to steal the limelight from his Missus!

The wheel of doom remains in operation to decide what fines players receive but it’s come back to bite me this week unfortunately.

There’s one option on there which is to nominate someone to pay double and, as the fine master, it’s normally me who gets chosen but twice in two days wasn’t much fun!

Josh Wright has now also sung his initiation song and I thought he was really good.

He did it at a team-meal which three of the lads were late for so we made them sing as well instead of fining them.

It turned into a bit of a concert and Dru Yearwood was quite good.

But Elvis Bwomono and Nathan Bishop should definitely stick to playing football!

This weekend sees us back in action at Portsmouth.

They have magnificent support but our fans will travel in big numbers too and we’re all looking forward to playing in this match.
