JOHN White has urged Southend United to forget all about their midweek Checkatrade Trophy defeat as they prepare to do battle with Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

Blues - who have lost just one of their last seven League games - were beaten 2-0 by Peterborough United on Wednesday night.

But White wants the Shrimpers to focus on extending their promising run of League results.

“We need to brush over the Peterborough defeat if we can and take our league form forward and not that,” said White.

“I didn’t think it was all doom and gloom on Wednesday because we created chances and on another night they would go in.

“But we’ll still be going to Bristol Rovers full of confidence, looking to take the three points.”

However, White knows he is unlikely to figure against the Pirates.

The 31-year-old - who had been on the bench for three games - returned to the starting line-up at London Road.

But he expects Michael Turner to come back into the team tomorrow.

“The team is doing well in the League and the two centre-backs have done well, especially in the last game which we won 2-0, so it’s difficult to go knocking on the manager’s door after a defeat ahead of the weekend’s game,” said White.

“When you’re playing well you want to be playing games but on the other side of it there isn’t much more you can do.

“I’ve done everything I can and it’s out of my hands. That’s the way I’ve had to look at it otherwise you get screwed up over it.”
