MARK Oxley is desperate for Southend United to put things right when they host Bradford City tomorrow.

Blues were beaten 3-0 at Bristol Rovers last weekend and Oxley is keen to see a positive reaction against the Bantams at Roots Hall.

“There’s always a chance to put things right in football and this is our chance,” said the Shrimpers goalkeeper.

“The lads were more disappointed than anyone on Saturday because the second half just wasn’t good enough.

“We have to put it right and we’ve been working hard to make sure that happens.

“We’ve been working on our shape and what to expect against Bradford.”

But Oxley is also keen for Blues to string together a run of more positive performances and results.

“We need to be consistent,” said the 27-year-old.

“A couple of months ago we had three wins in a week and we have to look at the games coming up and hope they will turn our season around.

“Teams don’t look forward to coming to Roots Hall and we have to keep that going because we fancy ourselves against anyone at home.”

The Shrimpers remain unbeaten at Roots Hall but have struggled on their travels this term.

And Oxley was left downbeat by their latest defeat at Bristol Rovers - despite his own man of the match display.

“I picked the ball out of my net three times so I wasn’t happy at all,” said Oxley.

“We’ve all got to pull in the right direction now and make sure we do enough to get good results.

“If you look at our team and came to see us in training you would be thinking ‘how are we so indifferent?’ But it’s only us who can address it and we have to find a way of getting round it sharpish.”
