SOUTHEND United fans have had their say after it was confirmed Phil Brown’s time as Blues boss had come to an end:

Sad moment, will always be remembered for getting us to where we are but he took us as far as he could.

@harrytuttlebee

Had ups and downs, kind of gutted it turned out the way it did but we need a bit more passion and change of mentality. Players clearly not playing for Brown and has had his tactics all wrong this season, but have nothing but respect for him, and thank him for his services.

@kevinlowe12345

Genuine thanks for getting us out of League Two, but the club has gone backwards this season - he’s had the backing from Ron and it’s been a disaster.

@ougs103

Wanted a change for obvious reasons, but mixed emotions now it’s actually happened. Horrible to see someone going like that. It was the right time. Onwards and upwards! Thank you & BYE!

@1AaronCross

Had to be done, promotion was a real possibility and now relegation is. Loved the Brown era but everything comes to an end.

@WagerDamien

Whether or not this sacking is ‘right’, at this point of the season, depends on one thing... who (if anyone) is lined up. Personally, I think he would have turned it around and kept us up. Either way, you make the change in June - six months too early for me.

@TomasPhillips84

Right decision, time for clean sweep. Well done Ron. This is a great job for the new man to come into.

@plbacon

It’s the correct decision to sack him because we’re playing terribly and need some fresh ideas, but we still need a clear out of players. He deserves credit though for improving the club from a League Two team to a League One team. He did a good job here.

@Ryan_Fleming99

Thanks to Phil for getting us promoted. Some good football at times but his record shows that he fails to turn around big slumps. The right decision, should have come a week or two ago.

@JamesRBeattie

Did a lot of good, made us more professional, improved training ground facilities and gave us our first Wembley success - some just never liked him from the word go. He goes with my thanks but no doubting the time is right.

@Kaylalula

Did a fantastic job to get us up but this season team has lacked leadership both on and off the field. Confidence shot and once the decline started it was only a matter of time before we would be back where we were in League Two. Happens to all but a very select number of managers.

@GraemeLee66

He has done a decent job overall but he has wasted the budget he was given this season, poor signings. We need a newer younger management team with fresh training methods.

@wegoagainonsat

Until this season a brilliant job. Would never ever win over some of our fans despite promotion and genuine progress every year, until this season. Very strong replacement needed to sort out disinterested/underperforming older players.

@PeteSufc88

Been a brilliant manager on the whole for us with that day at Wembley particularly special. The right time for him to go so we can rebuild and pull away from the relegation battle. Thanks PB.
