ECHOSPORT takes a closer look at tomorrow’s opponents Oxford United with the help of U’s supporter Joe Citrone.

What have you made of the season so far?

“It has been a season which began with promise, excitement and expectation but has slowly but surely deteriorated into the miserable relegation battle that we currently find ourselves embroiled in.

“We took far too many gambles in the summer transfer window that have gone horribly wrong and our attempt at resurrecting things in January didn’t go to plan either. I would be surprised to see us avoid the drop now.”

How have the fans taken to the new manager?

“Karl Robinson has come across well in interviews with his straight-talking style and most of our fans can appreciate that he’s trying to save a sinking ship without much to work with.

“I’m excited to see what he can do when he signs his own players, but he’s struggled to make an immediate impact on the pitch.”

Who is the dangerman?

“If he’s fit, our most talented player is Joe Rothwell. He is formerly of Manchester United and is someone who likes to burst forward from midfield with pace and unlock defences with his superb passing ability.”

What’s the team news?

“The big news is that our captain, Curtis Nelson, could make his long-awaited return from an Achilles injury on Saturday.”
