PLAYER OF THE SEASON

Mark Oxley: Week after week, the Blues goalkeeper has made some stunning saves and he would get my vote as player of the season.

The double stop at Bradford last weekend showed the standards he has set this season and I just hope I am still writing about him next year!

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON

Dru Yearwood: This season, in truth, has been quite tough at times.

But the number of young players being given an opportunity to impress has been among the high points of the campaign.

The pick of the bunch for me has been Dru Yearwood and it has been great to see the youngster impressing in the centre of the park on a consistent basis.

GOAL OF THE SEASON

Ryan Leonard v Bury I know Ryan is no longer here but I think his goal against Bury would probably be the best I have seen from a Southend player this season.

GAME OF THE SEASON

Scunthorpe (H) Having suffered eight defeats in nine games it was great to see Blues bounce back to winning ways against Scunthorpe in January.

The match was Chris Powell’s first in charge with Michael Turner scoring a last minute winner to secure a 3-2 victory at Roots Hall.

UNDER 23 PLAYER OF THE SEASON

Elvis Bwomono: Elvis has been Mr Consistent for the under 23s this season and it has been great to see him get a run in the first team recently.

Norman Wabo also deserves a mention for his goals and I always enjoy watching Harry Phillips play too, not just because of his surname!

UNDER 18 PLAYER OF THE SEASON

Emile Acquah: Every time I have seen the under 18s play this season Emile has scored. His record has been fantastic and he would be my pick for player of the year.

FUNNIEST MOMENT OF THE SEASON

Free-kick in the under 23s: Not many people will have seen it but the moment Norman Wabo knocked over Harry Phillips in an under 23 game and the referee gave Southend the free-kick will live long in the memory!
