MICHAEL Timlin wants to banish his play-off blues by helping Southend United win promotion this season.

The influential midfielder was an unused substitute when Swindon Town lost the League One play-off final against Millwall in 2010.

And he is now eager to make amends for that heartbreaking afternoon.

“Losing that day and not getting on was one of the lowest moments of my career, so it would be nice to get back Wembley and have a happier day there,” said Timlin.

“Last time it was really disappointing, especially as we were playing Millwall, which is really close to where I’m from, which meant so many of my friends and family were there.

“I was desperate to play. But it didn’t happen and I want it to be different this time.

“But it’s going to be very hard to even get to the final because Crewe have been on a great run and will make it hard for us.”
