Stephen Brogan eager to impress in Madrid for Southend United
9:00am Friday 27th July 2012 in Blues By Chris Phillips
Stephen Brogan - scored twice for Blues at Braintree Town
NO-ONE will be wanting to impress more in Madrid for Southend United this weekend than winger Stephen Brogan.
The 24-year-old winger, who is on trial with Blues, scored twice in last Saturday’s 2-0 triumph at Braintee Town.
And, as he continues his pursuit of a permanent contract with the club, Brogan is again eager to impress.
“I’ve spoken to the manager and he’s said he can’t make a decision on me after 45 minutes of football and I completely understand that,” said Brogan.
“It’s therefore up to me to go out there and show that I can play as well as that if not better on a consistent basis and do enough to earn a contract.
“That remains my number one aim and I’m desperate to get my career going again so I would love a move back in to the Football League with Southend.”
Brogan and his Blues team-mates fly out to Madrid this morning and will play twice in the space of 48 hours.
Tomorrow they face Real Madrid C before facing Rayo Vallecano on Sunday and Brogan, who played in Blue Square North for Stalybridge Celtic, is looking forward to the trip.
“It’s not a bad place to go for a trial but it will mean nothing if I don’t do well,” said Brogan.
“The manager told me that he will have a look at me during this trip and the game against Ipswich next Tuesday so I’ll have a clearer picture after that.
“Hopefully I will have done well and will persuade him to offer me a contract.”
