Southend United Paul Sturrock interested in signing Stephen Brogan

Paul Sturrock - keen to sign Stephen Brogan
SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock has confirmed the club are interested in signing Stephen Brogan.
The tricky winger has impressed on trial with Blues, playing in their last four pre-season friendlies.
And Sturrock is now due to open discussions with the 24-year-old and his agent.
“We’re certainly interested in signing Stephen and will now have talks with him and his representative to see what kind of figures are being mentioned,” said Sturrock.
“He’s done well in the games he’s played for us though and now it’s just a case of trying to sort things out.”
Brogan scored twice for Blues at Braintree Town in his first outing for Blues and revealed he is interested to coming to Roots Hall on a permanent basis.
“I would be more than happy to stay here but I will just have to wait and see what gets said,” said Brogan, who started his career with Rotherham United.
“I’ve settled in well and got to know all the lads a bit more when we went to Spain.
“I’ve spoken to the manager and he seems interested so fingers crossed everything can be sorted and I can become a Southend United player and do well for the club this season.”
However, discussions with fellow trialist John Spicer have stalled after the midfielder picked up a thigh injury which ruled him out of the tour of Spain and Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Ipswich Town.
“John is now back to being around 80 per cent fit and it was an unfortunate time for him to pick up this injury,” said Sturrock.
“We wanted to have a closer look at him in a few more games but will now have to wait until he regains full fitness again.”
