Bilel Mohsni's future unclear after Southend United reject bid from West Ham United
BILEL Mohsni’s future remains unclear after Southend United rejected West Ham’s £150,000 offer for the French defender.
The centre-back recently spent two weeks on trial with the Hammers and also went on tour to Germany with the Premier League newcomers.
But Blues have opted to knock back their initial bid and are believed to have asked for at least double for the 25-year-old who has now headed home to France.
“Everything is a bit up in the air for Bilel at the moment and he’s gone back to France for the time being,” said a source close to the player.
“West Ham had been impressed by what they saw and were keen to sign him but Southend are being a bit unrealistic with the price tag they’ve put on his head.
“West Ham aren’t prepared to pay want Southend are asking for and Bilel’s stuck in the middle of it all.
“Nobody really knows where he will go from here, including himself.”
Mohsni, who has been with Blues for two years, previously insisted he would not be heading back to Roots Hall .
However, with a season still to go on his contract, Southend will still have to stump up his wages until he signs for a new club.
But he does seem destined to depart after not being given a squad number by Blues for the forthcoming season.
His number six shirt has been handed to new signing Ryan Cresswell while Freddy Eastwood will wear number seven.
However, number one remains vacant as Blues still have no first choice goalkeeper.
