Southend United's Ryan Cresswell gets the inside take on Northampton Town

Ryan Cresswell - wants Blues' first win of the season at Northampton Town on Saturday
RYAN Cresswell has turned to his former Rotherham team-mates to help Southend United end their winless start to the season.
Blues have been beaten in the first three games of the new campaign.
And they are now desperate to open their points tally in this weekend’s clash at Northampton Town, who faced Cresswell’s ex-Millers side on Tuesday night.
“On the way home from our game that night I was texting and talking to a few of the lads at Rotherham who were telling me all about Northampton,” said Cresswell, 24.
“They all said they were quite a direct team, which I don’t mind, but they also warned me about one or two players we need to keep an eye on.
“We know we will be in for a difficult game because all games are in this league.
“But we obviously want to go there to get our first points on the board and we all believe we’re capable of doing that.”
Cresswell, who joined Blues on a free transfer from Rotherham during the summer, made his first start at the heart of Southend’s defence for Blues’ 2-0 defeat at Oxford United on Tuesday night.
But, despite the bad result, Cresswell was encouraged by Paul Sturrock’s side battling performance after Michael Timlin was sent off after just 27 minutes.
And the defender feels certain it will not be long until they start to rise up the League Two table.
“Oxford are a strong side and playing them with 11 men would have been tough let alone 10 but we all really gave it everything,” said Cresswell.
“If we keep on doing that then we will be fine and it’s still very early days."
