Peterborough United bid for Southend United stars Ryan Hall and Kane Ferdinand

Kane Ferdinand - wanted by Peterborough United Kane Ferdinand - wanted by Peterborough United

PETERBOROUGH United last night lodged a double bid for Southend United stars Ryan Hall and Kane Ferdinand.

The Championship club are keen to bring in the Blues’ duo ahead of the transfer window closing tonight.

But their combined offer is still being considered by the Roots Hall hierarchy.

It promises to be a busy day of transfer activity at Blues as the Echo can also reveal that another member of Paul Sturrock’s first team squad is close to leaving the club on loan.

However, Southend are working hard to bring in players themselves.

They remain in talks with two strikers over a switch to Roots Hall and have also spoken to a pair of midfielders who are currently on the books of a Championship club.

We can only let Hall and Ferdinand go if quality replacements are definitely coming in, and even then, only if the offers are sufficiently large.
Remember what happened when we virtually gave Barnard to Southampton. The entire season collapsed and relegation was achieved, which seemed impossible before he left.
Were the same thing to happen this time, SUFC as we know it would be finished.

I agree...two good players...but we must not agree to sell them cheap. If cheap, we will have no money to buy quality replacements. Worrying times for me. I can see a misty future.

Is this a case of selling off talent to pay a tax bill? Moshni, Ferdinand and hall are all assets which should be kept. They are no doubt unhappy also but Ron Martin and Sturrock seem to have lost their way again!! Regret can't see any improvement till Martin goes and new management has a proper plan and Sturrock has funds to buy or leaves.

So Kane has gone for an initial fee of £200,000. I may be wrong but I thought we turned down £750,000 from Peterborough last year or was it just speculation or a dream. Anyway seems Posh have him on the cheap. He must be worth more than £200,000. At lest we have a sell on clause.

As said already, the £200k will probably keep blues afloat by paying off the HMRC, cant see blues keeping afloat in league 2 though, desperate times ahead and all down to RM.

It's probably me but could one of my fellow fans point me to the link which shows me which much needed players we signed last night ?

I imagine we've sold Prosser and Barker, signed a defensive midfielder anda creative one plus an an-loan striker (Michael Owen) just while Eastwood and Corr get fit?
Any takers?

OK if you want RM & PS go fine

But who will come in? Do you know any multi millionaires looking to throw cash at it? Do you know any rich Arabs that want something to play with?

Until you come up with the answer, better the devil you know!
