Southend United manager Paul Sturrock to hold talks with Ryan Hall about his future at Roots Hall

SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock will today hold more talks with Ryan Hall over the winger’s future at the football club.

Hall was unable to agree a £250,000 switch to Blackpool before Friday night’s 11pm transfer deadline after Blues had earlier rejected a smaller offer from Peterborough United.

But it still remains unclear if Hall will play again for the League Two side.

“Answering that question is a bit like tossing a coin at the moment because I don’t know what will happen at this stage,” said Sturrock, whose side beat Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 at Roots Hall on Saturday.

“Ryan isn’t mentally tuned in to playing for Southend United at this moment in time as he has other things on his mind.

“That’s why I didn’t involve him against Wycombe at the weekend but I will have to have a chat with him on Monday and see where the land lies.

“At the end of the day he is a signed registered player and although things have not worked out for him I know he wants to play football, so I will see what he says and go from there.”

Looks like Moshni Mark 2. Like Moshni, and perhaps even more so, Hall owes everything to Southend. He could and perhaps should have been sacked for his assault conviction, but the club stood by him.. Lesson for the future-if a player transgresses, just kick him out, before he kicks the club in the teeth.

Hall would do well to remember that he won't encourage other clubs to bid for him by sitting in the stands. He needs to face up to the fact that unless he goes out on loan the transfer window is shut until January, so he either sets a personal target for himself to play & perform well, which can only help him move to a higher level or lets himself & the club down by sulking which in itself can discourage other clubs from bidding maybe in January.
