ANTHONY Straker and Gavin Tomlin have both completed moves to Southend United.

Left-back Straker has joined on a two year deal from Aldershot Town, while attacker Tomlin has signed for a season after leaving Dagenham and Redbridge.

And Blues boss Paul Sturrock was thrilled to have snapped up both players.

“Both players have plenty of pace and that’s something I felt we lacked in the side last season,” said Sturrock.

“I think they will prove to be very good signings and it’s good to have got them in before the team come back in for pre-season training.”

Yep pace was certainly lacking for sure last season. A couple more players, in midfield and central defence and I think we'll be there.

I still think we need 2 more strikers as Benyon and Harris aren't good enough
