Paul Sturrock - keen to sign a new goalkeeper
SOUTHEND United Paul Sturrock is keen to bring in a new goalkeeper as quickly as he can.
Blues are currently without a senior shot-stopper following the decision to release Glenn Morris at the end of last season.
And Sturrock wants to soon sign a replacement.
“We’re in discussions with a few players and their agents and I want it to be done soon,” said Sturrock.
“As far as I’m concerned the quicker everything is done the better.
“I think making signings early was of benefit to us last season and I don’t think it was a coincidence that players like Liam Dickinson, JP Kalala and Christian Dailly all ended up getting injured after missing pre-season with us.”
Former Swindon Town goalkeeper Phil Smith, who worked with Sturrock at the County Ground, had been in transfer talks with Blues following his release from the Robins but he has so far been unable to agree personal terms.
