HOCKLEY got the Warsop League off to a fine start by beating Old Chelmsfordians by 44 runs.

The match was the first in the new 20-team, four division Sunday league which was launched this summer.

The Division Two clash saw Hockley bat first, scoring 216 for seven from their allotted 40 overs.

Alex Warren (45), Neil Foster (37) and Dan Mitchell (29) were Hockley's batting stars, while Goldstein and Lee each took two wickets.

Goldstein was also main threat during Old Chelmsfordians' reply, hitting 85, but a lack of support meant the old boys were restricted to 172 for six.

Warren and Callum Druce bagged two wickets each as Hockley made a winning start.

In Division Four, Burnham Sports beat Terling by three wickets with six overs to spare.

Sports, the home side, bowled first and restricted the visitors to 151 all out with Ali Allchin taking 3/22 and Neil Saunders 3/15.

Neil Wade and Tom Stephens, both just 13, shared eight tidy overs, while Withdown (36) and Tomkin (35) were the pick of the Terling batsmen.

Allchin then starred with the bat, hitting two sixes in his 43 as Burnham won a good-spirited match.

And in Sunday's other Division Four match, Great Waltham thrashed Rayne by nine wickets.

Batting first, Rayne were bowled out for just 99, with only former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mark Falco (34) showing any real resistance. Adam Kendrick (3/24), Andy Elgar (2/7) and Oliver Devenish (2/14) were the pick of Waltham's bowlers.

Elgar then led the way with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 51.
