SOUTHEND & EMT clinched the Essex Sunday League T20 cup in thrilling fashion, beating Premier League side Harold Wood in a dramatic final ball decider.

Chasing 187 to win, Southend required 14 more runs from the last over and six off the last delivery of the game.

But Joe Sibbons brilliantly cleared the ropes to secure a successful end to the season for Southend.

And club captain Joe Robbins was delighted by the victory.

“Joe batted brilliantly which we all know he is capable of and it was a real joy to watch,” said Robbins.

“It capped off a great season for the club and just added that final bit of gloss and another piece of silverware.”

Harold Wood batted first and started well, scoring 10 an over in the first 15 overs of their innings to reach 150/3.

But Robbins, with 2-20 off four overs, and Scott Elliot with 1-19, off three helped slow the rate and Harold Wood ended up on 186/7.

Southend then started their innings well, with Sibbons and Ollie Wagstaff hitting the ball well before Wagstaff was bowled out for 20.

Sam Rowe soon added a quick fire 17 before Robbins joined Sibbons at the crease and hit a crucial 38.

However, Sibbons continued to impress and his match winning 84 not out, which included the stunning six off the final ball, secured a successful end to the game for Southend.
