BILLERICAY maintained their promotion push with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Gidea Park & Romford.

David Houghton elected to put the hosts into bat and claimed 2-46 as Gidea Park reached 219-7 from their 50 overs.

Five Billericay bowlers took a wicket each, while Chris Collier (46no) led the home resistance.

Openers David Hinnigan (115) and Paul Martin (41) put Billericay on the road to victory, with Chistopher Tait unbeaten on 33 as the visitors posted a winning 220-3 in 45.5 overs.

Jonathon Sammut’s unbeaten 136 guided Wickford to a seven-wicket home win over Harlow Town.

The wicketkeeper plundered 18 fours and four sixes from 92 balls, while Dean Etchells (70) contributed to Wickford’s win-ning reply of 242-3 in 30 overs.

Jamie Went (4-48) and Chirag Desai (3-49) got among the wickets as the visitors reached 241-8 from their 50 overs, with Ashley Alderson (49) and Joe Holland (43) faring best with the bat.

Leigh on Sea suffered an eight-wicket defeat at Fives & Heronians.

Horndon on the Hill defeated hosts Stanford le Hope by three wickets in the Thurrock derby.

Opener Connor Hammond went for a single but every other Horndon batsman reached double figures in their winning 199-7 reply.
