HADLEIGH & Thundersley Cricket Club’s annual international day was another smash hit success - despite them being unable to beat a star studded Lashings side.

Lashings included former England internationals Devon Malcolm, Chris Lewis and Chris Schofield in their team and were able to secure a 62nd successive victory.

However, Hadleigh’s David Williams was still delighted with how the day went at John Burrows Park.

“It was another great day, it was well attended and everyone had a brilliant time which is what it’s all about,” said Williams.

“It was great to be a part of and it’s always good to try and test your skills against some of the greats of the game.

“It’s always an honour to have these top players coming down to our club and it’s a day everyone here always looks forward to.

“This year was certainly no different and plenty of money was also raised for local charities.

“A massive thank you must go to Neil Harding for organising the day again.”

Lashings batted first in the 35 over clash and ended their innings on 245/5.

Kirk Edwards top scored with 88, while Usman Afzaal added 50.

Sam Handley, Adam Dobson and Richard Revell all took wickets for Hadleigh before the hosts were bowled out for 200.

Kevin Renecke top scored with 54, while Luke Smith scored 48 and Paul Tibbenham 36.
