SPECTATORS at the Southend & District Junior League finals were treated to a feast of goals at Roots Hall yesterday.

Billericay’s Forest Glade lifted the U11 Roy Chaplin Memorial Cup with a 4-2 win over Canvey’s Concord Rangers.

Leigh’s Catholic United enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Corringham Cosmos to lift the U12 Malcolm Stockwell Memorial Cup.

Rayleigh Boys beat Basildon’s Valley Colts 3-1 to secure the U16 Prospects College Cup, while Great Wakering Colts got their hands on the U15 Konica Minolta Cup after a 2-1 win over Ashingdon Youth following extra time.

Catholic United made it a double on the day with a 2-0 triumph over Rayleigh Boys in the U14 Cup sponsored by Trinity Youth YFC.

And the U13 Arcadian Corporation Cup was won by Basildon Town following a 3-0 victory over Southend’s Ekco Whitecaps at Southend United’s home ground.

There were goals galore too in the South-East Essex Primary Mini Soccer League finals at Burroughs Park yesterday.

The under-nine Tigers Cup final proved to be a real goal-fest as Wickford Town Tigers and Leigh Ramblers Tigers shared eight goals between them.

With the score level at 4-4 after extra time, the game moved onto a penalty shootout which was won by Wickford.

Spot-kicks also settled the under-nine Lions Cup final at Great Wakering Rovers’ home ground in Little Wakering Hall Lane.

The match was goalless but saw Leigh Ramblers Lions beat Basildon side Eversley Boys Lions 3-1 on penalties.

An under-eight’s exhibition game was held before the under-10 finals got underway and this was won 2-0 by Billericay’s Forest Glade, who defeated Wickford Town.

Leigh-based Catholic United Lions made sure of the under-10 Lions Cup with a 3-0 win over Wickford team Essex Royals Lions.

Basildon’s Chalvedon Boys Lions beat Hawkwell Athletic Leopards 2-0 in the under-10 Tigers Cup final.
