BILLERICAY Town’s talented teenage forward Isaac Layne has been taken on trial by Charlton Athletic.
The 19-year-old, who impressed for the Blues after joining last season, will link up with the Addicks under-21 squad in the hope of earning a deal with the Championship side.
Layne was recommended to the Billericay boss Craig Edwards last season by Brentford after he had come through their academy.
Edwards said: “We promised to Isaac an opportunity to get him into the Football League. We sincerely hope it goes well for him, but if it doesn't we will be delighted to have him back.”
The former Brentford ace excited Blues fans last season, netting against Kingstonian on his debut, and scoring in Town’s memorable 7-2 win over AFC Hornchurch in the cup.
Billericay will also be rewarded with facing a Charlton Athletic XI in a pre-season friendly as a part of the deal.
