EAST Thurrock United threw away a two goal lead against 10-man VCD Athletic to draw 2-2 in Kent.
John Coventry’s side took a two goal lead at the second bottom side in the division and Rocks looked set to build on their best start for four years after a quick start.
Record goalscorer Sam Higgins opened the scoring with 20 minutes on the clock and it seemed East Thurrock were destined for another three points after success in the week but they were pegged back 20 minutes after Higgins’ second strike with only 10 minutes to go.
Lewis Tozer netted first but VCD were dealt what seemed be a decisive blow when Elliot Cox was red carded only minutes later.
But, as the clock ticked towards the end, Nick Reeves popped up to fire VCD to a battling point.
East Thurrock United: Hughes, Sammons, Stephen, Goodacre, Wood, Parmenter (Osei), Bryant, Gilbey, Higgins, Smith, Harris
