FA CUP: Danny Cowley says Concord Rangers are not approaching tomorrow’s FA Cup game as ‘favourites’ but just ‘another game’.

The Beachboys face the unusual scenario of heading into a game expecting to win, having been perennial underdogs in the Conference South since they were promoted at the start of last season.

They take on Winchester City, of the Wessex Premier League, who play three tiers blow Concord in the football pyramid and currently sit in ninth position.

But Cowley said his side would not be underestimating the opposition, as they played in the fifth tier of non-league in only the 2007/08 season.

“They are one of the better step five sides,” said the Beachboys boss. “It will be a hard match but we know all about them and will give them the respect they deserve.

“They will be keen to progress and will see it as a chance as they have nothing to lose.”

Canvey Island face their third consecutive away qualifier as they travel to Southern League Central Division One outfit Barton Rovers.

The Gulls have already beaten Hertford Town and Burnham and will be odds on to progress against a side a tier below them.

Barton currently sit seventh in the division and have already been making waves in the competition, upsetting Ryman Premier League pace setters Margate in the last round.

A recent flurry of red cards means Canvey are without three first-team regulars – Tambeson Eyong, Jay Curran and Harrison Chatting who are all banned although Ben Marlow, West Ham United’s on-loan midfielder, is back.

East Thurrock United take on Tooting & Mitcham United as they look to avoid an upset and make the final qualifying round of the FA Cup for the second consecutive year.

Rocks beat Met Police 4-3 in the last round and will be hopeful of a smoother passage through to next round having been drawn at home against a side in the Ryman South.

But the Terriers will be more than a match for John Coventry’s men, as they knocked out Conference South side Bishop’s Stortford in the last round.

Reece Harris and Ross Parmenter are the only doubts for John Coventry’s side, with both facing late fitness tests for the game at Rookery Hill.
