Great Wakering Rovers 1-0 Heybridge Swifts
From Burroughs Park
Ryman North
GREAT Wakering Rovers moved out of the relegation zone after claiming their first home win of the new season.
A goal from substitute Tom Ranger was enough for Dan Trenkel’s men against mid table Heybridge Swifts.
Introduced off the bench at the break, Ranger took advantage of several missed clearances in the visitor’s box to smash home what was the only goal of the game.
It was also Rovers’ second clean sheet in succession, following last weekend’s goalless draw against Chatham Town.
And they started the game well, also breaking through twice in the opening stages but they were indebted to the woodwork after Neil Richmond, formerly of East Thurrock United, struck the upright.
But Wakering were looking impressive and could have scored again before Rangers struck the winner.
Great Wakering Rovers: Seal, Radley, Holmes, Skeels, Sparrow, Skelton, Jacobs, Bradley (Hepburn), Johnson (Ranger), Nash, Strickland (Kent)
