STRUGGLERS Southend Manor and Basildon United both won impressively with Hullbridge Sports and Bowers & Pitsea dropping points as they conceded late goals.

Wayne Seal’s Southend Manor took a giant step away from the relegation zone but came from a losing position to claim the win. They went 2-0 down before Baldwin got in on the act before Rhys Fatt and Alex Stephenson got in on the act.

The win takes the home side up to 13th in the league and lifts them above league rivals Basildon United.

Craig Gillam won his first league game in charge of Basildon United with a 4-0 thumping of bottom-of-the-league Greenhouse London.

The Bees hadn’t tasted success in the league since Saturday, August 23 but were good value for the three points at the TLM Stadium Goals from Loranzo Ramsey, Gillam himself and a brace from Jordan Williams saw Basildon over the line.

Bowers & Pitsea lost out in a battle of two sides on form, although they had an uphill task after getting off to a difficult start.

Tashan Brown scored the opener and not too long after Paul Dincu doubled the advantage with a tremendous 20-yard chip.

Rob Small’s men pushed for a way back into the match and, after hitting the bar, they pulled one back through Lewis Manor.

And then Rob Whitnell grabbed an equaliser before the hosts saw a shot hit the post and run along the goal-line.

And that close miss came back to haunt them, with Sorin Bugia dinking over the keeper to claim the win.

Hullbridge Sports conceded a last-minute goal to sacrifice two points against Tower Hamlets.

Dean Wallace had put the away side in charge early on, when he tapped home from on the goal line and that lead should have been extended when Jamie Buffin slashed high and wide when well placed.

Sports stopper Bobby Mason was called into action early in the second half as he palmed aside an effort and Mark Bliss’s side should have made the game safe when Mike Edgar’s free-kick hit the crossbar .

And they were made to pay when Tower Hamlets equalised. Sports stopper Bobby Mason made a fantastic save, pushing the ball over the bar.

But, from the resulting corner, a header was powered into the net to ensure it was a point apiece.

Southend Manor ran out 5-3 winners to claim their second league win on the bounce.
